Ryann

On having a two year old.

September 19, 2011

There are countless words, new and old; short, demanding sentences softened with please and thank you. There is a big girl bed, with six pillows protecting the precious 24lb. toddler.  Five pees on the potty,  three poop catches and one obnoxious potty congratulatory dance.  There is blond hair long enough to put in a short [...]

It all started with a frame. {Homemade Chalkboard}

May 19, 2011

Technically it started when I shattered a large piece of glass.  I didn’t want to see such a gorgeous, large frame go to waste, so I put my thinking cap on and came up with the idea to make a chalkboard.  I even took it a step farther and decided to go all out with [...]

My thoughts on….well, I’ll spare you.

April 1, 2011

It’s been a while, I know you’re nodding your head in agreement.  My mind is flooded with thoughts, clouding my focus and sometimes crippling me.   I almost wish I was void of thought, I’d have less to think and/or worry about. I’ve thought about blogging A LOT.  And well, that should count for something. For [...]

Bullied on the playground.

February 25, 2011

Yesterday at the playground, Ryann was bullied.  By seven year old’s. A boy and a girl. Ryann is 17 months old.  A bold statement? Indeed. But true. Ryann bent down to crawl into a fort like space under one of the big slides, I was right behind her, JPW on the other side waiting for [...]

A fresh, old memory.

February 15, 2011

It’s hard to remember those first few weeks and, sometimes months, with a newborn.  Although, there are moments that I’ll never forget. A breastfeeding memory that is still so fresh… I drove up to the class hesitantly, lugged Ryann, my over sized diaper bag and insecurities into the room. I sat near my friend Haley.  [...]

Teeth.

January 31, 2011

“Crunch” “Snap” “Chomp” Ryann signs “more” for another cracker, and I oblige.  Sitting and watching her bite and chew so methodically, my mind wanders back to the first time she ate a cookie with her new, baby teeth.  A sound I’ll never forget, that first snap of a baby cookie, with her two front teeth. [...]

Active learner.

January 20, 2011

Ryann is a very active toddler.  Which is odd to me because as an infant she just laid there, she was a late roller and mover.  She learned to sit up unassisted early and then just sat or laid most of the time.  She would babble and shriek and grab for toys within her reach, [...]

New word.

January 19, 2011

We’ve reach a new toddler milestone at the Williams’ house.  It starts with an N and ends with an O.  And goes something like this: “Ryann, may I have a kiss?” “No, no, no.” “Ryann, please get your sippy cup off the floor.” “No, no, no.” “Ryann, it’s time to change your stinky bum.” “No, [...]

Playing.

January 10, 2011

Ryann is finally getting over the stage where EVERYTHING goes in her mouth. She attempts to put non-edibles in her mouth but can be redirected and is much better about not doing it every second. So we color and draw…. …and read… …and  build… …and she sits…. Cause playing is hard work.
