We bit the bullet and took a roadtrip this past weekend. It was long, and by long I mean 12 hours one way. With a baby. And two big dogs. In our Honda Accord. Yes, long is probably an understatement. When consulting with Mr. Thesaurus it appears that torture is the first word to come up. A torturous drive is a more appropriate description.
I’m thankful for a few things albeit an incredibly long and tightly packed trip: twitter, my husband’s face time and a radio. The radio wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t have twitter asking for help to get our secret code. Thanks to Pippy1208, she came to the rescue. The conversation, when the radio wasn’t keeping me entertained, was wonderful too. Twelve glorious hours to talk my husband’s ears off. I’m sure he loved it too.
Why did we take this shitty lovely trip? To attend a Williams’ family reunion on Saturday for 2 whole hours. It was hardly worth it, but marriage is a compromise and I did it for JPW. He wanted to see his Pawpaw and well I wanted to stay married. But I did have other motivating factors to keep me sane on the drive, it was knowing I would squeeze Jenny and Sara. That’s right, while you fancy pants were rubbing elbows with other fancy pant bloggers at BlogHer, I was rubbing tummies with Jenny, who is currently busy growing and feeding triplets. She’s celebrity status!
If you stuck with me through our journey up there then you surely were entertained or completely annoyed by me. Either way I tweeted my way along the journey.
A mere 2.5 hours into the trip and I was already squished and over the drive.
And the baby, she was not too pleased with not being able to crawl and roll over whilst sleeping. I’m sure she hates us now.

But I attempted to make her more comfortable.
And when that didn’t really work I just complained and tweeted what was on my mind. Metta1313 has decided I should publish a book from my tweets, and I do have to say that some of my finest tweets occurred on this roadtrip.
I wouldn’t really gouge my own eyes with a spoon, but at that time it sounded a lot more fun than sitting and driving and listening to a sad, restless, over tired baby. Oh and the dogs, yeah they were still panting and moving and stinking up the car.
And then I just became delirious with exhaustion and hunger.

We also passed a chicken truck with big plump chickens. And finally…
We pulled into my in laws driveway about 2:30, greeted by a flashlight. WTF? A flashlight, right, because there was no power. AWESOME! We managed to unpack the necessities, set up the pack n’ play, change and comfort Ryann in the dark. JPW and I fell into bed right after 3a.m. And like clockwork Ryann called for us at 7:15.
The trip wasn’t horrible, I mean I survived, but certainly not the most exciting either. A total of 27 hours in the car over the course of 3.5 days, with a mobile baby and two big dogs….I hope it won’t be happening again anytime soon.

you definitely win wife of the year award for taking that trip! I'm tired from just reading this.
Just one thing, though. I'm confused why you needed a code to listen to the radio. hahaha.
When you take the battery out of a Honda vehicle the radio resets and locks itself for security purposes. You need a 6 digit code to unlock it, yeah I didn't have it. The car is old and wasn't new to me. So until you unlock the radio you have nothing, no CD player, no radio….silence! Stupid feature if you ask me!

I was following the tweets…and yes, they were quite entertaining. Sometimes compromise is what marriage is all about. Good for you and happy to hear you made it home with your eyeballs!
Well tweeting with you was surely fun while you were losing your mind. Is that wrong that I enjoyed it? I mean I never see you around at that time, so yeah, amused. Hope you never have to do that trip again, though…perhaps JP needs to do something special for you. You know like a big compromise for him to keep your marriage together.
PS-Promise I will email you when I have some time. This is the last week of summer school!

It was fun talking to you west coasters too. I'm shocked I was making sense. And no rush on the email, I'm not going anywhere.
